The Spirit of Stu Still Lives On Inside the Scream House Horror Reel Estate

Billy and Stu begin to stab each other to make themselves look like the victims of their scapegoat. Stu claims that after watching several horror films, they know how to frame and get away with murder. There are three different properties on the estate that guests can rent, including The Cottage and The Bassett Farmhouse.

Who killed each victim or did they help each other some of the time? How did they use Stu’s house to sneak around and not get caught until they wanted to? Those are the kind of questions that should make the new Scream even more fun on a second (and third) watch. Originally, a couple named John and Carolyn MacPhail built the estate in 1991. But sadly John passed away from a “brief illness” on March 6th at the age of 59. Matthew Lillard commented on their deaths in an on-set interview in the Behind the Scream documentary featured in The Ultimate Scream Collection box set.

The guests will also get the Scream franchise on DVD, Woodsboro High gear, and posters from the upcoming film. After months of silence, the Scream (2022) promotional train is finally underway. The film’s official Twitter page got fans in a frenzy when it opened membership for the Woodsboro Horror Film Club. The club quickly amassed thousands of fans who began posting their theories and Scream tattoos. Those numbers are the zip code for Tomales, CA, where Stu Macher’s house is in real life. There’s been a ton of speculation about how Stu’s house will play into this new film.

The famous 'Scream' house was briefly an Airbnb.

Stu's robe and other items that were related to him were included in the collection. Kirby and Mindy later had a brief discussion about Stu as they looked at the television set that Sidney had knocked onto him years earlier, with some doubt placed on his death. Billy's daughter, Sam Carpenter refers to Stu as his "friend" who "carved up a bunch of high school kids while wearing this Halloween ghost mask". (Technically, both also killed two adults each. But this was a broad generalization to explain to her boyfriend Richie, who poses as unfamiliar with the films rather than a Stab fanatic.).

But the home that will forever be the Scream house to you is called the Victorian Elegance. It goes for $1,500 per night and can host up to 16 guests with its spacious five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Scream’s epically bloody finale, which counts for a whopping 42 minutes of screen time, was comprised of one scene, Scene #118. Broken up into more than 20 different parts, the sequence, titled “People live, people die,” makes up the entire third act of the film. Pretty much every single area of the residence is featured, including the front exterior.

In the second film, it is revealed Stu and his partner, Billy Loomis became immortalized on-screen with the slasher franchise, Stab (1998—present), consisting of eight films (three based loosely on true events). The identity of the actor portraying him in the original Stab film is revealed to be Vince Vaughn. Later, it is Friday night, and Stu's party occurs at his house after classes are canceled and citywide curfew is placed. After the guests leave, following news of Principal Arthur Himbry's murder, Stu and Billy plan their confrontation against Sidney. That night, Billy calls Sidney at her house, using the Ghostface voice modifier, while Stu carries out an attack against her.

Aftermath of First Murder

Stu is the accomplice to Billy Loomis, assisting him in multiple murders. He was completely unaware of Billy's true motive to kill Maureen Prescott, and simply had no real motive for doing it other that for fun. Sidney Prescott later asked what his motive was, and he simply said, "Peer pressure. I'm far too sensitive".

The house is crammed with ’90s nostalgia, including VHS tapes of the four “Scream” movies and ’90s snack favorites like Jiffy Pop, according to Airbnb. On Oct. 27, 29 and 31, the house will welcome up to four guests who will get the real “Scream” experience — hopefully sans death. Later, actors for the original, cancelled Stab 3, Sarah Darling, Tom Prinze, Tyson Fox and Angelina Tyler are seen discussing Cotton's murder outside a Sunrise Studios set-version of Stu's house, 261 Turner Lane. In Scream 2 (1997 film), it is now the Spring of 1998, and approximately two years since Sidney killed Stu in self-defense.

Attendees include their other friends, Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin, as well as Chad's girlfriend, Liv McKenzie along with many of their friends and peers from school, including Frances. Richie is able to lure Sam and Tara there by hiding Tara's inhaler causing them to go to Amber's to get a spare. After the events of the previous night, Police and new cast gather to get details on what happened during the night and earlier morning hours.

They observe him through the video camera secretly placed inside Stu's living room by Gale Weathers. However, Kenny forgets the 30-second delay, with Stu having already exited outside, and throat-slashes him. Stu makes a mockery of the murders, including a pun-joke, "Liver alone". On a serious note, after being questioned, he states, "I didn't kill anybody." This is seen as if he has something to defend. Billy glares at him, reminding him that Randy has only questioned Stu, not accused, saying "Nobody says you did".

Exactly how Stu's old house will factor in (beyond as the home of one of the possible Scream 5 victims) remains to be seen. Scream 5's plot also suggests that the new Ghostface (or Ghostfaces, plural, because history could repeat itself here) is killing people related to the former victims. It doesn't look like Stu's house from Scream is still an Airbnb, though. The house is situated on land that's part of what's called the Spring Hill Estate.

In the original Stab film (1998) based on his killing spree, he was portrayed by Vince Vaughn. Check out the Dead Meat Scream virtual tour for a brand new video exploring the home as they map out and explore the house. 3871 Tomales Petaluma Road in Tomales, California is currently estimated at a value of $3,360, 829. It features 4 bedrooms, 4 full baths, a formal dining room, a magnificent living room, custom-built library, straight grain woods throughout, 3 fireplaces and 2 wood-stoves.

Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak are serving as producers on the film. And Stu’s house also serves as the residence of Stella Davis (Dorian Brown Pham) in 2017’s Running Wild. Per the Spring Hill Estate website, Stu’s house is quite a hotbed for filming, with more than 15 productions lensed on the premises. The scenes of Himbry’s office, Sid’s bedroom and the school bathroom scene were all shot there. The fictional city was a composition of Santa Rosa, Glen Ellen, Sonoma and Healdsburg. Back in 2016, this website visited some of those locations and the article you can read here.

All guests will be responsible for their own travel to and from Northern California. The survivors, Sidney, Gale, Sam, Tara, Mindy and Chad are brought out of the house and medically checked and taken to the hospital. As dawn approaches, the news cast are gathered to report the previous evenings blood bath events mirroring the original massacre 25 years ago.
